  • PSG confirm first post-Mbappe signing after 'divorce delay'

Paris Saint-Germain have confirmed their first signing of the summer window, as Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov has joined on a long-term deal.

The 25-year-old arrives from boyhood club Krasnodar and becomes Les Parisiens' first arrival since the departure of Real Madrid-bound Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer.

PSG are understood to have paid an initial €15m (£12.7m) to bring Safonov to the Parc des Princes, and the deal could reach up to €20m (£16.9m) through performance-related add-ons.

Les Parisiens have allowed two backup goalkeepers in Keylor Navas and Alexandre Letellier to leave the club, but Safonov is expected to compete for the number one with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Arnau Tenas rather than simply play second or third fiddle to the former.

Barca 'offered chance' to sign in-demand Prem midfielder

Barcelona have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz during this summer's transfer window.

The La Liga giants are in the market for a new central midfielder this summer, and the club are expected to be active despite their well-documented financial problems.

Manchester United's Kobbie Mainoo is believed to be their leading midfield target, but a move for the England international in the current market is seen as unrealistic.

A recent report claimed that Mikel Merino, who is out of contract at Real Sociedad next year, has also emerged as a target for Hansi Flick's side.

Chelsea suffer release clause issue after Olise agreement?

Chelsea have reportedly suffered a major blow in their pursuit of Crystal Palace attacker Michael Olise.

The 22-year-old - despite featuring in only 19 Premier League matches during 2023-24 - managed to provide 16 goal contributions at the Selhurst Park club.

Following the arrival of new head coach Oliver Glasner as a replacement for Roy Hodgson, Olise has spearheaded a serious improvement of the Eagles alongside fellow forwards Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta.

In spite of his eye-catching performances in England, the France Under-21 international did not receive a senior call-up to Didier Deschamps 26-man contingent for Euro 2024 this summer.

Barcelona 'step up interest' in Man Utd superstar

Barcelona are reportedly accelerating their interest in Kobbie Mainoo, with the La Liga outfit determined to sign the Manchester United youngster during this summer's transfer window.

The 19-year-old, who is currently with the England squad at Euro 2024, represented the Red Devils on 32 occasions during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring five goals and registering one assist in the process.

Mainoo managed three goals and one assist in 24 Premier League appearances, while he scored twice in six FA Cup appearances, including in the final against Manchester City, as Erik ten Hag's side won the trophy.

The teenager has a contract at Old Trafford until June 2027, but Man United are said to be determined to sign him to a new contract, which would include a significant pay rise.

Al-Nassr offer Van Dijk world-record wages to leave Liverpool?

Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk has reportedly received a contract offer from Al-Nassr that would make him the highest-paid defender in world football.

The 32-year-old has been a cornerstone of Jurgen Klopp's trophy-laden spell at Anfield, helping the Merseysiders to an EFL Cup success during the German's last campaign at the helm.

After fitness issues in the 2021-22 term - when Van Dijk managed just five Premier League starts - the centre-back was once again a regular fixture in Liverpool's backline last season, missing only two league games.

During his trophy-littered time at Anfield, the towering Dutchman has lifted the Premier League and Champions League, alongside the FIFA Club World Cup and the FA Cup in 2022.

Man United, Arsenal handed Toney boost as Brentford 'slash' asking price

Manchester United and Arsenal have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Ivan Toney, with Brentford having reduced their asking price for the player.

The 28-year-old endured a difficult campaign during 2023-24 at club level, missing the first half of the term after being charged with 232 breaches of the FA's betting regulations.

Since his return to competitive action in January of this year, Toney has found the back of the net on just four occasions in 17 Premier League matches, with all of those strikes arriving in the first five matches.

Therefore, the former Peterborough United marksman has battled through a 12-match goalless run for Thomas Frank's Bees, however that has not stopped the forward from gaining international recognition.

Everton 'likely to laugh off' Man Utd's opening Branthwaite bid

Manchester United have reportedly launched an opening offer for Jarrad Branthwaite, with the Red Devils placing a £35m bid on the table for the Everton centre-back.

The Englishman is believed to be Man United's leading defensive target this summer, and it is thought that he has already come to an agreement with the Red Devils when it comes to personal terms.

However, a recent report claimed that the 20-time English champions will be required to pay a world-record fee for a defender for Branthwaite, as Everton value him in excess of £80m.

According to The Athletic, Man United have made an opening offer of £35m for the former Carlisle United youngster, but it is not expected to be anywhere near enough to convince the Toffees to sell.

One in, one out at Chelsea? Blues 'talking' over big-money deals

Chelsea are reportedly in discussions with another Premier League club regarding two big-money deals.

Now that Enzo Maresca is at the helm, the club's recruitment team are being proactive in their search for fresh talent ahead of 2024-25.

Tosin Adarabioyo has already arrived on a free transfer from Fulham, increasingly the chances of Chelsea making an effort to find a buyer for a centre-back already at Stamford Bridge as they bid to boost their position with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations.

If reports are to be believed, acquiring a centre-forward to compete with Nicolas Jackson is next on the agenda, with Chelsea having to look elsewhere having missed out on RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko.

Transfer news and rumours: Abraham to Tottenham, Nevett to Palace, Gross to stay at Brighton

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a move for Roma striker Tammy Abraham during this summer's transfer window.

The 26-year-old's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with Roma believed to be open to offers for the Englishman in the current market.

According to The Telegraph, a number of clubs are keeping a close eye on Abraham's situation, with Tottenham among the teams expressing an interest on his signature.

Abraham was restricted to just 12 appearances during the 2023-24 campaign due to injury problems, only managing one goal and one assist.

Real Madrid 'target' second Galactico signing after Mbappe

Real Madrid are reportedly pressing ahead with their plans to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies during this summer's transfer window.

Davies has been heavily linked with a move to Bernabeu over the last few months, with Los Blancos believed to be huge admirers of the Canada international.

The 23-year-old was again a vital player for Bayern during the 2023-24 campaign, making 42 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and registering six assists in the process.

Davies only has a contract at Allianz Arena until June 2025, though, and the Munich giants have thus far been unsuccessful in their attempts to sign him to fresh terms.

World-record fee: Man United 'learn substantial Everton demands for Branthwaite'

Everton have reportedly made it clear to Manchester United that they will not allow Jarrad Branthwaite to leave Goodison Park this summer unless a world-record fee is submitted.

The Red Devils have allegedly agreed personal terms with Branthwaite over a proposed switch to Old Trafford, with the transfer window officially opening on Friday.

However, according to BBC Sport, the two clubs are still some way apart in terms of their valuation, with Everton wanting at least £80m for the Englishman.

The report claims that the Toffees believe that Branthwaite deserves to be placed in the same bracket as Harry Maguire, who cost Man United £80m when he arrived from Leicester City in 2019.

'Bid made' - Unwanted Tottenham defender close to ending Spurs nightmare?

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly received an official bid to sell one of their out-of-favour defenders in the summer transfer window.

Spurs owner Daniel Levy had particularly high hopes for right-back Djed Spence, who rose to prominence in the 2021-22 season at Nottingham Forest on loan from Championship outfit Middlesbrough.

Spence played a fundamental role in the Tricky Trees' promotion to the Premier League, and Tottenham fended off the threat of North London rivals Arsenal to capture his services in a £12.4m deal.

However, the 23-year-old quickly found game time hard to come by under Antonio Conte, who offered him just 41 minutes from six substitute appearances in the first half of his debut Tottenham campaign.

Arne Slot identifies new 'priority' signing after Liverpool transfer talks

Liverpool have reportedly added a new left-back to their summer transfer wishlist amid uncertainty over the future of Kostas Tsimikas.

The 28-year-old - who has been affectionately dubbed the "Greek Scouser" at Anfield - spent another season as Andrew Robertson's understudy in the 2023-24 campaign.

While Tsimikas made 25 appearances in all competitions and contributed four assists, he made just eight starts in the Premier League, alongside five appearances from the first whistle in the Europa League.

The Greece international's most notable contribution came in the final of the EFL Cup, where he provided the assist for Virgil van Dijk's winner, but he failed to cut the mustard on other occasions.

Matheus Cunha opens door to Man United move

Manchester United have seemingly been handed a boost in their alleged efforts to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha.

The Red Devils are in the market for a new striker with Anthony Martial leaving the club once his contract expires at the end of June.

Head coach Erik ten Hag already has Marcus Rashford to provide competition for Rasmus Hojlund, but the Dutchman generally prefers to use both players in the same team.

As a result, United are expected to acquire the services of another attacker during the summer transfer window, potentially one who is versatile due to their need to meet the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations.

'Never again' - Aaron Ramsdale makes telling admission on Arsenal future

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has dropped perhaps the strongest hint yet that he is ready to quit the Gunners during the summer transfer window.

The former Sheffield United and Bournemouth man, who is currently away with the England squad preparing for Euro 2024, was ruthlessly demoted to second-choice at the Emirates behind David Raya last season.

Mikel Arteta's decision to bring in the Brentford loanee was met with several raised eyebrows, and criticism of his choice heightened when Raya made a few early errors in between the sticks.

However, Arteta persisted with his compatriot, a move that paid off as Raya shone during Arsenal's run to the Champions League quarter-finals and won the Premier League Golden Glove with 16 clean sheets.

Three Benfica stars Man United could sign this summer

The 2024 summer transfer window is now officially open, and Manchester United are expected to be active, with the Red Devils bidding to improve on what was a tough 2023-24 campaign.

The 20-time English champions finished eighth in last season's Premier League, but they did win the FA Cup to secure a spot in the group stage of the 2024-25 Europa League.

Man United's new football department are currently working on deals, and Portuguese giants Benfica could possibly be a club that the Red Devils raid this summer.

With that in mind, Sports Mole discusses the futures of three of the Portuguese outfit's stars who could potentially make the move to Old Trafford.

Three Lille stars Man United could sign this summer

Having seemingly made the decision to keep Erik ten Hag as head coach, Manchester United's plans for this summer's transfer window, which is now officially open, have accelerated.

The 20-time English champions could allegedly have a budget of around £140m, and there are a number of areas of the squad in need of strengthening ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

The club's new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe's familiarity with French football could lead to the Red Devils bringing in players from Ligue 1 and specifically Lille.

With that in mind, Sports Mole discusses the futures of three players that Man United could potentially sign from the French giants during the summer market.

Transfer rumours: Mourinho wants Adebayo, Villa open to Carlos sale, West Ham chase Soule

Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho is allegedly interested in signing Luton Town forward Elijah Adebayo.

The Portuguese has just made the surprise decision to become the new manager of the Turkish giants, preferring to challenge for a league title than accept a role at a club challenging for European qualification in a bigger league.

As a result, a wide array of high-profile names have been linked with a transfer, yet it appears that Mourinho is considering a shock move for a player who plied his trade for the Hatters last season.

According to Takvim, Adebayo is 'at the top' of Mourinho's shortlist for a new striker.

Newcastle 'to poach' Chelsea winger if Blues beat them to Olise

Newcastle United are reportedly plotting to make an approach for a Chelsea winger if they fail with a bid for Michael Olise.

The Magpies have recently suffered the disappointment of missing out on European football courtesy of Manchester United winning the FA Cup.

Failure to secure continental action for 2024-25 will impact on the funds that Eddie Howe can spend in the transfer market, as well as take away an attractive factor in negotiations.

Furthermore, it leaves Newcastle having to be more open to player sales, particularly if they receive a big-money proposal for the likes of Bruno Guimaraes or Alexander Isak.

"They can leave this summer" - Man United handed double transfer boost

Manchester United have seemingly been handed a considerable transfer boost ahead of pursuing new signings.

Having established earlier this week that Erik ten Hag would remain as head coach, United can now focus on trying to make new additions ahead of 2024-25.

A number of areas are being targeted, including centre-back and attack with Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial each departing on free transfers.

The Red Devils have been linked with a wide array of names for both positions, and much may depend on how they negotiate further exits in order to bolster their position with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations.

Man United 'monitoring' £65m Bayern defender as Ten Hag eyes reunion

Manchester United reportedly hold an interest in signing a Bayern Munich defender during the summer transfer window.

Earlier this week, the club's footballing operations team determined that Erik ten Hag would remain as head coach after a thorough end-of-season review.

With speculation regarding that position having now ended, United can focus on trying to strengthening their squad ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

Adding quality and depth to their central-defensive department is top priority with Raphael Varane having already departed the club on a free transfer.

Man United 'quash reports' of £50m bid for highly-rated teenage defender

Manchester United have reportedly downplayed rumours suggesting they made a £50.7m offer to sign Lille star Leny Yoro, who has been on the radar of Champions League winners Real Madrid.

The 18-year-old defender is widely regarded as one of the most promising talents in Europe and has attracted interest from top clubs, including the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and Bayern Munich.

In his debut season with Lille's first team, Yoro impressed scouts across the continent with his performances, making 44 appearances across all competitions and scoring three goals.

With just over a year remaining on his Lille contract, the Ligue 1 club is understandably anxious about the prospect of losing such a valuable asset for free in 2025.
